After yoga, meditation and mindfulness, Lifestyle seems to be super 'hot now'.

And actually this does not surprise me at all. More and more people become aware of what is going on in and around themselves.

Our busy life, with pressure that is imposed from the outside and which we impose on ourselves, eventually causes physical and mental imbalance and problems.

People often start with yoga, meditation, mindfulness and better nutrition, if they already experience stress or other discomforts. Absolutely very good to start them, but they have all a preventive effect as well. They can make a meaningful contribution if you want to change your lifestyle.
Lifestyle is about treating lifestyle-related disorders,  using a healthier lifestyle and good nutrition. Ultimately it is also about preventing problems and diseases.

In my Lifestyle counseling process, together we took at where your problems and physical & mental complaints lie, we zoom in on possible causes, what habits you have and what your lifestyle looks like at this moment.
Awareness, insight and nutrition are key elements in this.
Stress reduction can be an important part as well.
Phased, we make changes and really make them their own so that you get new habits and healthier lifestyle and most important to maintain it.

New and hot?
Lifestyle is actually nothing new but originally the basis of our medicine.
Already in the time of Hippocrates it was used for the prevention and treatment of diseases and disorders. And every current doctor also swears an oath at the end of his or her study "I will use life and dietary measures for the benefit of the sick, to the best of my knowledge and judgment. I will protect them from damage and injustice. " It has only fallen into oblivion a bit. Possibly because very little attention is paid to it at university. And in addition, the use of medicines seems easier and faster. Fortunately, more and more doctors are becoming more aware of the importance of good nutrition and lifestyle.

Of course you need medication sometimes. And you cannot cure some diseases and disorders with only changes of diet and lifestyle. Some diseases arise through predisposition and genes have absolute influence. A good lifestyle does not mean that you never get sick. But, you can reduce the chance by having a healthy lifestyle.

Lifestyle-related disorders
These are disorders that are partly caused by the way we live and eat. Unhealthy and overeating, too little exercise, too little or bad sleep and chronic stress. Our body cannot handle this properly in the long run.

In this way, lifestyle plays an important role in many welfare diseases, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular diseases. But also asthma, eczema, high blood pressure, stomach and intestinal complaints, migraines, high cholesterol, are complaints that can alleviate or even reverse with a healthier lifestyle.

We often do not realize that there is a big connection between lifestyle and certain disorders.

Medicine case often indispensable, absolutely. And in some cases also lifesaving. But in non-life-threatening situations, medicines sometimes do not always deliver what they promise. They suppress the symptoms of an ailment, but do not remove the cause of the complaint.

Scientific evidence.
There is a lot of evidence that high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes can be reversed through proper nutrition. There are also many things that have not been scientifically proven, because nutrition research among large groups of people is very difficult to implement. For example, you cannot do a double-blind study because you do not have placebo kale.
And it is not about one kind of Superfood, but good nutrition is about a full-fledged diet with lots of vegetables and fruits, nuts, seeds, fatty fish, wholemeal grains, less meat and less processed foods.
And in addition to good nutrition, a healthier lifestyle is with sufficient sleep, not too much stress, no smoking and sufficient exercise
